Byhalia police go to 25 calls

Byhalia police officers responded to 25 calls during the past week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 2; assists, 1; disturbances, 1; domestic, 1; escorts, 2; fires, 4; medical, 7; miscellaneous, 6; thefts, 1.
The Byhalia Police Depart­ment also made seven arrests during the past week, according to Chief Looney.

One killed in accident

An accident that took place at Highway 302 and Cayce Road claimed the life of Telsi Shanise Isom, 19, of the Holly Springs area, according to coroner James Richard Anderson. The accident happened around 8 p.m. Friday, he said.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to Methodist Olive Branch Hospital, he said, and then later was transferred to Regional One Health Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Anderson said the vehicle left the road and came to rest on its side in a drainage ditch.
Anderson said many fire departments responded to the accident. Officers were scheduled to reconstruct the accident, he said.
