Karlo Strickland Jr., a junior at Holly Springs High School, and Maggie Teel, a junior at Marshall Academy, are recipients of the Holly Springs Rotary Club’s Extraordinary Effort Award for November-December 2024. The award recognizes students who utilize hard work anddedication in overcoming obstacles and achieving results. Presenting the awards are Barry Burleson, chairman of the Extraordinary Effort Award Committee, and Fergenia Hood, president of the Rotary Club. Strickland is the son of Sharita Smith and Karlo Strickland Sr., and Teel is the daughter of Colter and Kasie Teel.
The holiday season was especially great for the 186 children and families who The Erma Rogers Head Start Center in Byhalia serves. Donations poured in from so many of the community partners, so much so, that the center was able to give each child wonderful educational gifts, thanks to a grant, as well as so many other great gifts.
