Byhalia police go to 35 calls

The Byhalia Police Department responded to 35 calls during the past week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – miscellaneous, 8; escorts, 1; thefts, 1; disturbances, 6; domestic, 1; animals, 1; motor vehicle accidents, 2; assists, 3; fires, 3; damaged property, 2; medical, 5; and alarm calls, 2.
Byhalia police officers also made three arrests during the past week, according to Chief Looney.

Petting Khava Monday at the sheriff’s department are sheriff Kenny Dickerson and investigators Kelly McMillen and Jordan Brock. Khava was found along I-55 near Winona and taken to a veterinarian.

Joshua Fletcher is wanted in connection with the murder of Samuel Smith at Chewalla Lake in Marshall County.

The victim’s pickup, driven by the suspect, Joshua Fletcher, was caught on camera at Lake Center Grocery east of Holly Springs.

Search intensifies for suspect

A suspect in the death of Samuel Deward Smith, whose body was found floating in Chewalla Lake several weeks ago, has been identified.
