Wright selected as player of the year

Jabari Wright has been selected as Falkner’s Player of the Year, after helping lead his team to an appearance in the Mississippi High School Activities Association semifinal for the third year in a row.

The senior averaged 22 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals per game. Wright was named 2-1A district player of the year and finished his high school career, scoring over 1,000 points. Wright said many factors contributed to his success, but none were like his family and teammates.

“My work ethic is insane. Everyday after practice I would go to the gym and workout just to keep my body in shape,” Wright said. “My teammates were always questioning me. Like, ‘Why do you work so much? I always said, this isn’t just a game to me. This is my life, man.”

“Basketball and football changed my life so much that I don’t know where I’ll be without it. I just got so much love for the game it’s like it’s irreplaceable.”
