Nikiya Burgess (left) of Holly Springs High School placed first in the Mississippi Powerlifting Championships Friday in Jackson. Competing in Class 3A, her lifts were squat, 300; bench, 185; and deadlift, 320. Leonard Roberts (right) of Holly High placed third in the state powerlifting meet. His lifts were squat, 430; bench, 270; and deadlift, 510. Their coach is Sylvester Hemphill.
