Smith Earns Big South Player of the Week

The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that DaQuan Smith, has earned his first Player of the Week award this season after pacing Radford’s offense through two contests last week.

Smith led the Radford University Highlanders to their first back-to-back conference victories this past week in contests at Gardner- Webb University and against Longwood University.

The Holly Springs native exploded for 20 points in the first half of Radford’s nationally televised game against Gardner-Webb and ended the game with 24 points. He shot over 50 percent from the three-point range overall. On Saturday, Feb. 24, against Longwood, Smith was responsible for 21 of 88 points for the Highlanders’ big win. He heads the team in points so far this season, averaging 15.2 per game.
