Rust College Craven voted GCAC Player of the Week

The Rust College men’s basketball program saw its superstar get recognized for his blistering start to the season as Davonte Craven was named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Craven, a junior forward from Cleveland, Ohio, has been one of the nation’s brightest stars in 2022-23, securing his second double-double of the year of 22 points and 11 rebounds at Texarkana.

The Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) and Texarkana transfer averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists, 2.5 steals, and one block per game during the Texarkana Classic last Friday and Saturday while connecting on a video game worthy 63% of his shots from the floor.

Rust College is the oldest most prestigious historically black college in Mississippi founded in 1866 by the Freedmen’s Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
