Potts Camp coach Ball named Coach of the Year

In his first season as head coach of the Potts Camp High School coach Allen Ball led the Cardinals to a 20-12 record, district 1A-3 champs, and an appearance in the Mississippi High School Activities Association quarterfinals and was selected as Falkner’s Coach of the Year.

Coach Ball knew when he saw his team for the first time he had something special.

“Most definitely. From day one I knew we had all the physical tools that we needed to have a successful season,” Ball said. “I think we also proved it to ourselves with the basketball brand we put on the court this season. The foundations are laid now for the culture that we want to have. We say the word nonstop a lot. We want to do everything nonstop, competing, executing, defending, lifting, and shooting.”

Ball said if they do the work nonstop, they will always be in a good space.

“We’ll put a good brand of basketball on the court that we can be proud of. That’s the culture that we are continually working towards,” he said. “This season we got to see what it looks like. It’s a slow grind but it’s worth it in the end.”
