Patriots split with Carroll

Marshall Academy exploded for 23 hits last week in two games versus Carroll.

The Patriots ended the District 1-AA game early due to the run rule Friday at home, winning 17-6. That came after they saw a big lead fade away on Tuesday of last week at Carrollton, losing 9-8.

Marshall went up 6-0 in the top of the first inning versus the Rebels Friday. Ben Shaw hit a three-run homer to swing the early momentum in the home team’s favor.

After the visitors rallied to tie, the Patriots scored two in the bottom of the second to take an 8-6 advantage.
