Patriots relay team places first at Lee Academy

The 4x-100-meter boys Marshall Academy’s team stunned the competition at the Colt Relays, Lee Academy in Clarksdale, Wednesday, March 22, starting the season with a big win.

“Nathaniel Carter, Carlos Young, Max Whittaker, and Devin Snow blew away the competition,” said track coach Kylee Brown.

The Patriots’ 4x100-meter relay team placed first. Along with the relay team, Hunter Hayes took first place in the 100-meter hurdles; Devin Snow placed first in the 100-meter dash; and Carlos Young placed first in the 200- meter dash.

It was a great day for the Patriots.

“Hard work paid off and it feels great,” Snow said.

Henry Hayes finished second in the 100-meter dash, and Max Whittaker placed third in the 400-meter dash.

“It’s good feeling knowing I started the season off strong coming in first,” Hayes said. “I’m only going to progress forward from here.”

Addison Durham leads the team for the Lady Patriots, placing second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash.

Landry Loper placed third in the 200-meter dash.

Lauren Parks placed third in the 200-meter dash for the junior high girls, and Luci Tomlinson placed third in the 400-meter dash.

“It was a great first-track meet,” coach Kylee Brown said. “All of our athletes competed well.”
