Head coach Jake Hill gives some instructions to his Patriots in a game earlier this season.

Patriots dominate Saints

The Marshall Academy football team heads into District 1-3A competition with momentum after a dominant road performance.

The Patriots made the long bus ride to the Delta on Friday night and returned with a 43-6 victory over Greenville Christian School. Next up, district foe Washington School visits Marshall.

“Overall, I was pleased with our performance, and hopefully we can take this momentum into conference play against a very good Washington team,” Patriots head coach Jake Hill said.

Marshall found the end zone six times against the Saints. Zane Hill ran for two touchdowns, from 32 and 11 yards, and threw for two more – a 9-yard strike to Cash Simpson and a 20-yard pass to Gage Todd. Brennan Smith added a 3-yard touchdown run, and Todd scored on a 7-yard carry. Noah Olguin went 5-for-5 on extra points, and Rylan Dague converted a 2-point conversion from 3 yards out.

“I thought for the first time this season we executed in all three phases of the game and played as a team,” Hill said. “My players were more focused in practice, learning the game plan, and it showed when we took the field.” The Washington

School Generals enter this week’s game at 5-3 overall and 1-0 in district play after falling 24-20 to Class 4A Pillow Academy on Friday.
