No. 5 Rebels head for SEC play
Now that the non-conference part of the schedule is behind the Rebs , we’ll get to finally see the gauntlet of an offense put to test . The Rebels welcome Kentucky Wildcats to town, and from judging from the last several seasons the Wildcats and Rebels always go down to the wire. A lot of the country can’t wait to see some of the biggest games of the season. Luckily for Ole Miss they are favored in almost the remainder of the schedule. Through the last four games the Rebels have outscored their opponents 220-22 which is best in the country. More then likely the average margin of victory will change, due to a loaded SEC. But this years Rebels team is hungry for more. It’s clear that Kiffin thinks that some of those “bigger and better players” will line up against his team this week.
Near the opening of his remarks on Monday, Kiffin stated that Kentucky’s defense is a challenging one to face, comparing their schemes and size to the NFL. They have really good length on defense, great size,” Kiffin said. “I think that it’s happened to us and a lot of people: when you don’t have size and length on defense, you struggle over the last few years with Georgia or Alabama before that. “They very much look like an NFL defense from structure and a size standpoint and coverages and techniques. That’s why a lot of people struggle against them and games seem a lot more like NFL games. It’s hard to make yards and hard to run the ball.” Over the next few months the CFP will begin to take shape , and I can guarantee you after all is set and done the Rebels will be one of the final 12 teams standing.
