National Championship recap

Four of the most dominant teams we’ve ever seen met in the women’s and men’s final four championships.

After a controversial foul propelling the Iowa Hawkeyes into the championship game, arguably, two of the game’s biggest figures, Caitlin Clark and head coach Dawn Staley, would guarantee a game well remembered for decades.

The Iowa Hawkeyes opened the game on a 12-0 run, sending the message early to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Hawkeye’s fast start may have seemed to give them a considerable advantage. The Gamecocks weathered the storm coming back from the early deficit.

The Gamecocks took a 49- 46 lead into the half, and from there, they wouldn’t look back, securing their third-ever national championship 87-75.

Though she left college basketball ringless, the career Caitlin Clark had at Iowa will forever be remembered as one of the best ever in sports.

On the men’s side, we finally saw the two best teams of the past two seasons, Uconn and Purdue.

The nation’s best player vs the best team took center court on Monday night. Both teams traded heavy-weight blows in the first half, but the Boilermakers lacked the ability to slow down the Huskies, and they would pay. Uconn dominated the second half, securing their second straight national title 75-60.

What a career for Purdue big man Zach Edey; after being underrated his whole career, Edey went ahead to win Player of the Year honors back to back for his brilliant play on the court. Caitlyn Clark also had a brilliant career.
