Moore’s first-career homer highlights MSU victory
A little rain couldn’t hold back Vann Stuedeman’s squad on Saturday night as the Mississippi State Bulldogs shut out the No. 24 Arkansas Razorbacks 3-0 to take game one of the series at Nusz Park.
After inclement weather pushed the start back two hours, the Dogs and Hogs took the field in the first game of a pivotal conference series. State would strike first, despite Arkansas making a little noise in the first two frames. After MSU starter Cassady Knudsen kept the Hogs at bay, the Bulldogs got their bats going, starting with a Caroline Seitz double in the second which extended her career-long hitting streak to nine-straight games. A groundout from Calyn Adams would move Seitz to third and a Katie Anne Bailey grounder would push her home, giving MSU a 1-0 lead.
After a quiet third, the Bulldogs struck again in the fourth, this time thanks to the bat of Kat Moore. On a 2-1 pitch, Moore delivered a missile over the wall in right, tallying her first-career home run to push MSU’s lead to 2-0. The final insurance run came in the sixth, as Seitz earned her second hit of the night, driving home Bevia Robinson to secure a 3-0 advantage for the home team.
