Mills going to Blue Mountain

Gracie Mills, who has won a pair of state individual cross country state championships at Potts Camp, has signed with Blue Mountain College.

The high school senior has been running cross country since the seventh grade.

She was the 2015 Class 2A state individual champion, and the entire Potts Camp team finished as runner-up. She repeated as the best in the state in 2A in 2016, plus the Lady Cardinals brought home the state crown.

In 2017 and 2018, Mills placed fourth and 11th, respectively, in Class 1A.

She did not get to run cross country her junior year due to an injury. She tried to bounce back this season. She competed but did not finish as well as she had hoped. The daughter of Joe and Kim Mills, she is also a member of the volleyball team, and she has been running track since the seventh grade.

Her accomplishments on the track in the 1600-meter run include:

• 2016 season — first in division, region and north half, and second in the state.

• 2017 season — first in division, region and north half, second in the state.

• 2018 season — first in division, second in region.

• 2019 season — injured.

• 2020 season — school out due to COVID-19.

Her accomplishments in the 3200-meter run include:

• 2016 season — first in division, region and north half, second in the state.

• 2017 season — first in division, region and north half, and second in the state.

• 2018 season — second in division and region and third at north half and state.

Her accomplishments in the 800-meter run include:

• 2017 season — first in division and second in region.

• 2018 season — second in division.

Mills plans to major in business administration at Blue Mountain. She is a member of the Beta Club, FFA and FCCLA at Potts Camp High School.
