Michigan wins College Football Playoffs
Twenty-twenty-four will be the final year we see the fourteam platform in the college football playoff. After a 10- year run, we’ve witnessed some of the greatest games in college football history. Some games were one-sided; some games were won with a minute left. As we say goodbye to the original College Football Playoff, numbers 1 and 2 faced off at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
The #1 Michigan Wolverines and the #2 Washington Huskies won their semifinal games on big defensive plays. The Wolverines scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and seemed to be literally running away with the game. But defense was the game’s name; the Husky’s defensive line started to take control in the second quarter, helping their offense put together a drive right before the half to cut into Michigan’s 14-point lead 17-10.
The third quarter was the same thing we saw in the late first half: a defensive battle between the teams.
In the fourth is when Michigan duo JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum do what they do best and take over, leading the Wolverines to a 34-13 victory over the Washington Huskies. The victory gave Michigan its First National championship since 1997.
