Marshall splits with Northpoint
The results differed when Marshall Academy basketball teams visited Northpoint Christian School to complete the pre-Christmas portion of their schedules.
The MA boys led by eight at halftime and used a strong third quarter to pull away. They won 63-49 over the Trojans.
Carlos Young was the top gun for the Patriots. He scored 18, with 12 of those coming in the first half when they built a 33-25 lead. Makhi Findley added 15 for Marshall and Kaleb Luse 11.
The Marshall girls let a one-point halftime advantage fade away and lost to Northpoint 50-36. They were outscored 28-13 in the second half.
Gracie Rappa was the leading scorer for the Lady Patriots with nine points.
The Patriots (13-3) and the Lady Patriots (14-6) played in the Calhoun Holiday Showdown on Monday and Tuesday of this week. They will visit West Memphis Christian School this Friday night, Jan. 2, and the girls will go to St. Agnes for a Saturday afternoon contest, Jan 3. Next Tuesday, Jan. 6, MA teams travel to Batesville to face North Delta.
