Marshall runners advance to state
Next up for several Marshall Academy athletes is the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Overall Track Meet.
They finished in the top four of events at the North State AA Meet last Saturday at Lee Academy (Clarksdale). MA qualified for overall in nine different events.
The overall meet is set for this Saturday at Jackson Prep.
Girls
• 100 meter dash - second, Keranie Jones, 12.89.
• 800 meter run - fourth, Erin Burleson, 2:49.79.
Boys
• 100 meter dash - second, Cordarius Thomas, 11.50.
• 200 meter dash - first, Cordarius Thomas, 22.21.
• 400 meter dash - second, Cordarius Thomas, 55.25.
• 4x100 meter relay - second, Canaan Pearson, De’Keysheion Owens, Cordarius Thomas, Layke Foster, 47.99.
• 4x200 meter relay - fourth, Canaan Pearson, Eli Pearson, Cordarius Thomas, Layke Foster, 1:39.43.
• 4x400 meter relay - fourth, Drayton Potts, Eli Pearson, Cordarius Thomas, Anthony Mayfield, 4:04.22.
• 4x800 meter relay - fourth, Jacob Gadd, Eli Pearson, Drayton Potts, Anthony Mayfield, 10:06.99.
MA athletes will compete in Class 2A Saturday versus the other leading finishers (top eight) from both the north and south parts of the state.
