Marshall County Wild Boars a new era

The Marshall County Wild Boars, Next Level Football Alliance North Division, was founded on March 30, last year, and the owner and head coach is Telvin Scales. The NLFA is a league of 25 teams.

Scales said losing his grandfather inspired him to create his semi-pro franchise. The team plays home games at Sam Coopwood Park in Holly Springs.

“We call this first season, ‘The Something to Prove Tour,” said Scales. “Every coach and every player has something to prove. We, as coaches, are proving that there’s more to life than being in the streets. Also, leagues pay players to play so that these young men are coachable.

“As a player, you’re are proving yourself worthy at every practice and in every game that you belong on somebody’s team willing to pay you for your talent and dedication on and off the football field,” Scales said.

One of Scales’ main priorities is to take former athletes off the streets and give them hope again.

“It helps by giving them something to do instead of turning to the streets and risk losing their freedom from being bored in the house all day,” he said. “Also, it helps by giving the younger generations local influencers to motivate them to do something they love. When you hear kids come to a practice and hear them say I want to be like number 0, 6, 22 etc. it shows that you are about to inspire these kids to be like somebody or be better in the community.”

Scales wants to welcome anyone who loves the game of football to come out and join his team.

“If you are a young man that still loves the game of football and just want to fulfill your dreams of playing football or wanting to come and do what it takes to get to that next level, come out and be a part of a new era. We are looking for level-headed coachable players that are eager to learn and help your teammates become champions, not just football champions but champions of life. Help us change the stigma of our community and bring joy and entertainment back to the county we love”.

The Wild Boars coaches are head coach Scales; Cody Anglian, offensive line coach; Dre Woods, assistant head coach/defensive coordinator; Anthony Newson, defensive line coach; and Jeffrey Moore, offensive coordinator. The team roster is: Amos Crump, Antjuan Boswell, Antonio Hughes, Arqavius Shorty, Austin Nickson, Chris Wright, Christian Crawford, Christofor Lane, Christopher Gardner, Cristian Martin, Desmond Shegog, Eric Lewis, Ja’Darius Manning, JaDarrion Milan, Jalen Webb, Jamarion Blackshear, JaQuavia Bell, Jarterious Owens, Javiyion Norphlet, Javonte Joanne’s, Jaylon Mullins, Jeremiah Scott, John Day, Kendric Isom, KeShawn Carter, Kevin White, Mark Boyd Jr., Martravious `Trey’ Newsom, Montavious `Quan’ Wilson, Myles Stone, NaJarvious `Jay’ Walker, Quadaris Cole, Quendarrius Harris, Rod’drickous `Drick’ Moore, Ronnie Ayer’s, Shawn Sellers, Corteze `Teze’ Love, William Jones, William Payme, William Tillman, and Zakarrius Townes.
