Marshall Academy win against Rossville 48-6

After starting the season on the road for two straight weeks, the Marshall Academy Patriots were at home to take on the Rossville Christian Academy Wolves.

Marshall was still searching for its first win and playing in front of the home crowd definitely helped.

The Patriots came to play dropping 48 points on the Wolves. The end score was 486.

“Home, sweet home. It was nice to finally play at home,” coach Ben Durham said. We have a tremendous fan base and the atmosphere is unmatched. We finally executed at the level we expect.”

Durham said the offense needed to come together and they did just that Friday night. “They paved the way for over 300 yards rushing. Omarion Tipler and Shaun Brown led the way. I felt like the ball handling was much cleaner and the backs hit the holes. We had some nice runs by Jack Whaley Smith and Hayes Henry.”

Durham said the defense played well again. Leading the way was Trevor Knox with nine tackles. “He gets better every week,” said Durham. “We still have some discipline stuff we have to clean up but overall a solid performance.

“Now we need to really refocus and get ready for South Pontotoc. They are going to be a good test before we start district play.”

The Patriots will host South Pontotoc High School Friday night September 9 at 7 p.m.
