Marshall Academy splits with Hillcrest

The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots opened the softball season Saturday at home with a split versus Hillcrest Christian School.

“It was nice to get on the dirt and play a doubleheader,” said coach Carlton Gibson.

Marshall won the first game 8-5 with Hannah Swallers earning the victory  from the circle. She gave up three hits, walked two, hit one batter and struck out two.

Leading the offense, with two hits each, were Jessica Deming and Erin Lomenick
