Lions pull away from Rebels in second half

H.W. Byers was flagged 13 times and had three turnovers but chalked up a win in game one of the season.

The Lions, after what coach Chris Daniels called a “bad first half,” turned things around in the next 24 minutes and beat Hickory Flat 34-0 Thursday night at home.

“First game mistakes, you’re going to have them,” Daniels said. “The effort was there in the first half, but we had way too many mistakes. We picked it up in the second half like good teams are supposed to do.”
