Lions lose to Rebels in offensive outburst

H.W. Byers had 609 yards total offense Friday night at Thrasher and scored eight touchdowns. But that wasn’t enough.

“If you do that, you’re supposed to win the ball game,” coach Chris Daniels said.

Problem was, the opponent had at least 700 yards total offense, he said, and won the Region 1-1A football game 68-50.

“Both teams moved the ball up and down the field,” he said. “We couldn’t get the stops in the second half when we needed them, and they did. They got two crucial stops, and that was the difference in the ball game.”
