Lions down Strayhorn, Walnut

The H.W. Byers offense was in high gear in game two of the season Tuesday night, Nov. 6.

The red-hot Lions, with three players combining for 65 points, scorched Strayhorn 84-68 at home.

Kaderrius Rhyan led the way with 30 points. Julian Moore and Malik Glover followed with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Byers outscored the Mustangs 37-18 in the first half.

In the first game of the night, the Lady Lions lost to Strayhorn 62-33.

Leading scorers for Byers were Keyonna Washington with nine and Dawn Fitzpatrick with eight.

The Lions continued their winning ways, improving to 3-0, with a 65-40 road win Friday night at Walnut.

“We’re playing well,” said Holt Rushing, in his first season as coach of the Byers boys. “We’re getting better each game.”

Devin Moore led the way versus the Wildcats. He scored 20 points and had eight rebounds. Rhyan followed with 17 points and six rebounds.

The Byers Lady Lions lost 75-31 at Walnut despite a 25-point performance from Jakorien Hubbard.

Also, Dallas Fitzpatrick had five steals in the loss.

The Lady Lions and Lions hosted Holly Springs this past Tuesday, and they will travel to Holly Springs next Tuesday, Nov. 20.
