Lions defeat Panthers
The H.W. Byers Lions traveled to Ripley to take on Pine Grove Panthers to win the game with a final score of 57-45.
“We played sloppy the first half, three key guys in foul trouble,” Byers coach Fred Stafford said. “Omarrious Johnson and Madarian Euell, we’re not playing great, but we are young in spots. We are getting better each game.”
Johnson and Euell kept them in the game in the second half, said Stafford.
“The third quarter, we played better, and in the fourth quarter, we took over the game. Jabari Wright woke up in the second half and asserted himself,” Stafford said. “As a team, we have a 7-2 record.”
The Lions will travel to the next two games: Myrtle High School on Friday, Dec. 14, and Jumpertown High School on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Games begin at 7:30 p.m.
