Lady Cards sweep

The Potts Camp softball team had post-season success in Green­ville on Friday of last week, scoring 32 runs in two games.

The Lady Cardinals crushed O’Bannon 17-2 and 15-3 in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs. Next up is a best-of-three series in round two versus East Union this week.

“Our team is very young – mostly made up of seventh and eighth graders,” said coach Dee Blakeney, whose team improved to 9-7 overall. “We have four sophomores and they are stepping up and becoming leaders for the younger players. They are molding into well-rounded players and understanding each other’s roles.
