Lady Cardinals get three victories

The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals scored 51 runs last week in three wins.

Coach Dee Blakeney’s softball team crushed DeSoto County Academy 19-4 and then swept Marshall County rival H.W. Byers 15-0 and 17-3.

They improved their season record to 4-3.

The Potts Camp roster includes five sophomores, and the rest are seventh and eighth graders. The sophomores and leaders of the team are Victoria Gurley, Regan Waddle, Jenelle Davis, Kayla Allen and Halie Marquand.

“The girls are improving every game – making a lot of progress,” said Blakeney, a veteran coach in her first season at Potts Camp.

Earlier in the season the Lady Cardinals defeated Ripley in a thriller, 11-10, and then lost games to Independence (21-1) and Hickory Flat (10-5 and 7-6).

Schedule

The Lady Cards hosted Coahoma County on Tuesday of this week. They visit Independence Thurs­day at 5 p.m. They will compete in the Wheeler Tournament this Saturday, April 1.
