King and Green bring home the gold

King and Green win the gold

Hickory Flat High School track and field team members Logan King and Morgan Green brought home gold medals from the Mississippi High School Activities Association 1A State Track and Field Meet Wednesday, May 10, held at the Woody Barnett Track and Field Complex in Pearl.

King, a senior, placed first in the 1A high jump (6.00), and Green, a junior, placed first in the 1A long jump (16-11.50). Green also brought home the bronze medal, placing second in the 1A triple jump (34.01).

Other Hickory Flat results:

• LaDextini Tipler, 4th place, 8th grade, 1A high jump (4-08.00)

• Camri Westmoreland, junior, 7th place, 1A high jump (4-02.00)

• Jolene Young, junior, 4th place, 1A discus

The Hickory Flat girl’s track team finished sixth in the team rankings, and the boys finished 21st out of 31 schools.

Michael Green (boys) and Leah Green (girls) are Hickory Flat High School Track and Field coaches.

Madarian Euell, of H.W. Byers High School, received the bronze medal when he placed second in 1A Triple Jump (40-02.05).

Keilyse Faulkner placed third and received the bronze medal in the 100-meter dash (13:33).

• Faulkner placed fourth in 1A 100-meter hurdles (19:55) and seventh in 1A long jump (14-11.00) H.W. Byers coach Christopher Daniels girl’s track team finished 16th, and the boys finished 23rd out of 31 schools at the state meet.

Ashland High School State Track and Field Meet results are:

• Megan Crutcher, second place in the 100-meter hurdles (17:59), second place in the 200-meter dash and second place in the 300-meter hurdles

• Michael Hamer, sixth place in the 100-meter hurdles (17:50)

• Jamyson Griffin, third in the 100-meter dash

• Olando Evans, fifth in the 100-meter dash and second place in the 200-meter dash

• Octavious Anderson, third in the 200-meter dash

• Boys 4x200-meter relay, first place (1:33.10)

• Girls 4x100-meter relay, third place (53:00)

• Boys 4x100-meter relay, first place (44:26)

• Amariah Tucker placed 8th in the Dicus

Ashland High School girl’s track team placed fifth in the state, and the boys placed third in the state, competing against 31 schools.
