H.W. Byers sweeps Potts Camp

H.W. Byers dominated cross-county rival Potts Camp on the basketball court Friday night in a pair of District 2-1A games.

Three Lady Lions scored in double figures as they traveled to the home of the Lady Cardinals and picked up a 57-20 win. Leading the way were Madisyn Euell with 17 points, Mya Jefferson with 15 and Janiya Smith with 10.

Byers outscored Potts Camp 15-0 in the second quarter to take total control of the contest. It was 27-6 at halftime.

Top scorer for the Lady Cardinals was Alyssa Clifton with 12 points.

In the second contest of the night, the Byers boys went up 19-0 in the first quarter and cruised to a 73-29 win over Potts Camp.

Ten Lions scored. Cassel Vaughn and Jesse Hughes were the top scorers with 12 points each. Corey Willis followed with 11.

Jeremiah Nelson scored 10 for the Cardinals.

Byers teams will host Byhalia Friday, Jan. 23. Potts Camp teams visit Okolona this Thursday and then go to Walnut Tuesday, Jan. 20. They host Hickory Flat Friday, Jan. 23.
