H.W. Byers shuts out Coldwater

The H.W Byers Lions had an impressive 44-14 win last week. The Lions, who have not lost lost a game, looked to remain perfect after welcoming the Coldwater Cougars .

The Byers defense and offense had their best performance of the season shutting out the Cougars for a 32-0 victory.

“There were spots in the game where we played like we were asking a hog to produce beef. Then there were spots where we played like we were hotter than a crockpot,” Coach Chris Daniels said. Quarterback Michael James was 9/16 for 190 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Running back Vincent Talley finished with 11 rushes for 94 yards. Jabari Wright finished with four rushes for 45 yards, two receptions that went for 65 yards and a touchdown.

The Lions will take their undefeated record on the road to face Okolona High School September 23.
