H.W. Byers senior archery members honored

H.W. Byers senior archery team members were recently honored. Each senior received a plaque created by Coaches Fred Holland and Colet Pierce. The plaques contained a green arrow used in the past season at various competition meets. Under the arrow, the school name, archer's name and year was written. Coach Pierce also presented each player with a yellow rubber duck wearing a graduation cap with 22 on top and a necklace saying, "You did it".

These archers will be greatly missed by the coaches and their teammates because they are truly leaders of the archery team. They can often be found assisting new team members during practice time as well as at competition meets. Each senior has helped build the archery program here at Byers and we thank them for their dedication. It has been a struggle during the pandemic to even continue the archery program, but with the help of dedicated team members like these seniors, the program has continued to be successful. The team was very successful by making it to the state competition held in Jackson, Mississippi.

The team would like to thank the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church for supporting them throughout the season. The monetary donations help provide food and drinks for the bus trips to various competition meets.

After the plaque presentations, the team members along with parents, guests and school administration enjoyed pizza, chips, cookies, and punch while visiting with each other. We wish these senior archers the best of luck after graduation.
