Hurricanes blast the season 12-0 and advances to World Series

The Hurricanes 12U base ballteam brought the talent all season long ending with a record of 12-0 and advancing to the World Series this past weekend in Southaven.

“The team showed to be a powerhouse this season,” said coach Jon Davis. “There were teams from all over came to Southaven and this was the Hurricanes second appearance.”

The Hurricanes usually play ball in Holly Springs but since baseball was interrupted the team chose to join the Byhalia league this season. “The Hurricanes would like to give a special thank you to the Town of Byhalia for allowing us to be a part of their baseball community,” Davis said. Coach Davis and Candice Cox both said they had to seek an alternative to play baseball because it had become a vital part of the community. “We understood how much it meant to our youth, and knew we had to do all we could do to see that they were allowed to play the sport they’d grown to love so much,” said Cox.

Davis said the team has been together since they were six years old.

Jerry Kelley said the Hurricanes lost this weekend but the team had a great experience and probably will remember the games for many years to come. “This group of young men played summer league in Byahalia, and is the first team to go to the World Series from Byhalia Eagle Sports,” Kelley, said. “We are proud of them.”

The Hurricanes would like to extend a huge thank you to the parents, families, fans, supporters, and sponsors for the support shown throughout this season.
