Holly Springs Hawks takes two from Rosa Fort
The Hawks hosted Rosa Fort High School in Tunica on Tuesday, Jan. 10. As the time gets closer to the district playoffs, district games become increasingly important for schools.
The Lady Hawks came into the game fresh off a win at rival Ashland High School. Winning back-to-back games was something they were looking to do for the first time all season. The Lady Hawks opened the game hot on a 19-4 run to end the first quarter. The Lady Hawks took their foot off the gas in the second quarter but still seemed aggressive.
At half-time the Lady Hawks led with a score of 34-20.
The Lady Lions cut the deficit to three going into the fourth, but a phenomenal fourth quarter helped the Lady Hawks pull away to defeat the Lady Lions of Rosa Fort with the final score 66-44.
Leading the scoring for the Lady Hawks Aryuanna Ingram with 24 points, Chamilya Watson also had a high-scoring game, finishing with 22 points.
Hawks win 70-62
The second game of the evening the Hawks also looked to complete a twogame winning streak against the Lions. But Rosa Fort wouldn't make it easy for the Hawks, giving them all they could handle in the first and second quarters.
The Lions took a 33-29 lead into the half.
A few halftime adjustments helped the Hawks control the pace of the second half. The Hawks took care of business, securing the 70-62 victory.
Holly Springs Hawk Jabez Jones led the way with 19 points.
North Panola takes win in overtime 69-68
North Panola High School only scored eight points the first half and did not pick up the momentum in the second half.
The Hawks led the score at halftime 32-18.
The Hawks lost control in the third quarter with North Panola scoring 16 points to their six.
Both teams struggled to keep the lead in the fourth taking the game into overtime with a score 58-58.
The struggle continued in overtime with North Panola winning by one point with a score of 69-68.
Jabez Jones was top scorer for the Hawks with 18 points.
Lady Hawks win over Lady Cougars 44-38
The Lady Hawks traveled to North Panola Friday, Jan. 13 to led with a final score of 44-38.
Lady Hawk Chamilya Watson lead the score with 11 points. Aryuanna Ingram and Jakyra Hankins scored ten each, Janya Bohanna scored 9 points and Natalya Jones put four in the goal.
Friday night Holly Springs High School Hawks hosts Byhalia High School Indians beginning at 6 p.m.
