Holly Springs Hawks sweep Potts Camp Cardinals

Two neighboring schools met on the hardwood Tuesday night, Nov. 18, with Holly Springs taking a pair of wins versus Potts Camp.

A balanced scoring attack led the Lady Hawks, who raced ahead 31-6 at halftime before leaving Potts Camp with the 46-23 victory.

Nine of 11 Holly Springs players scored. Atop the point production was Teyuana Reaves with 13 points, followed by Zianna Schlender with eight.

Mariah Jeffries had 11 points for the Lady Cardinals.

The Hawks were just as dominant in the nightcap as they rolled past Potts Camp 63-35. They led 14-4 after one quarter, 31-14 at intermission and 53-25 following three periods.

Christopher Hale powered Holly Springs with a solid allaround game. He scored 18 points, dished out seven assists and had seven steals. Karon Finley added 13 points and three steals. Jatavion Pegues scored 11.

Malachi Brownlee was the only Cardinal hitting in double digits. He had 13.

Potts Camp was nine of 13 from the free-throw line, while the Hawks were 11 of 20.

The Lady Hawks (5-2) and the Hawks (5-2) visited Rosa Fort on Friday night of last week, and then they played in tournaments at Hickory Flat and New Albany, respectively, on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Next Tuesday, Dec. 2, both teams host Rosa Fort.

The Lady Cardinals (1-4) and the Cardinals (1-3) hosted Kossuth on Friday night of last week and Tremont on Monday afternoon of this week. The boys played in the Oxford Challenge on Tuesday of this week. Next Tuesday, Dec. 2, both teams visit Myrtle.
