The Holly Springs Hawks and H.W. Byers Lions went into week two searching for win number one of the regular season. The two are rivals, and the fans knew to expect a hard-fought battle in this game. What a way to end the hot month of August with this heated game.

The Hawks jumped out of the gate to a 14-0 lead in the first half. Coach Clifford Brown’s squad took a 30-18 lead into the half.

Down only 13 at halftime, the Lions seemed optimistic to battle back in the second half, but it did not happen. The Hawks went on a roll in the second half thanks to an outstanding performance from running back Kentravian Kinkle.

The Hawks went on to win 62-18, scoring 32 unanswered points in the second half.

Next up for the Hawks is a road date with the Ashland Blue Devils. The H.W. Byers Lions travel to Rossville Christian Academy. Games begin at 7 p.m.
