Hawks trounce the Blue Devils, 56-6
The Holly Springs Hawks won their first game of the season, coming off an impressive home victory over H.W. Byers 62-18. The Hawks continued their winning against the Ashland Blue Devils.
From the kickoff the Hawks dominated, winning with a final score of 54-6. Quarterback Deonte Jefferson completed eight for 15 passes for an impressive 203 passing yards and carried the ball for 71 rushing yards. Star running back Kentravian Kinkle had 19 carries for 201 yards. Receiver Keonte Jefferson finished with three catches for 92 yards, and receiver Jaylen Sims finished with two catches for 68 yards.
After the game, head coach Clifford Brown’s only words were, “just win.” The Hawks, with two wins and one loss, prepare to host the South Pontotoc Cougars who come into the challenge with a 1-2 record.
The Blue Devils now sport a 0-3 record. They take the field next when they host Strayhorn High School for a non-district game on Sept. 15.
