Hawks dominate Blue Devils 85-46

The Ashland Blue Devils traveled to Holly Springs to play the Hawks for their annual early-season showdown after both teams had two weeks off due to inclement weather and the Thanksgiving holidays.

From the tip-off, the Hawks jumped out in front of the game taking a 26-14 lead in the first quarter.

The Blue Devils outscored the Hawks in the second quarter by adding 12 more points to the scoreboard. The Hawks brought 11 to the board, bringing the half-time score to 37-26.

The Blue Devils tried to close the score during the third quarter but were unsuccessful.

The Hawks continued to dominate the last two quarters closing the second half by adding 48 points to the board.

The Hawks took the game with an 85-46 victory.

Jabez Jones finished with 15 points, Arian Shelton finished with 12. Camron Isom scored 10, Colain Brown, nine points, Jaylen Sims, seven points, Geoyl Ambrose and Codarius Nunnally both scored six, Jarruis Thomas and Camarien Thomas scored four each, Tyler Mayfield and Keonte Jefferson scored three each, Deonte Jefferson, Jason Jeffries and Richaud Kirklin each netted two points.

Hawks opened district play with a game at Independence on Tuesday, Dec. 6. They will be back on their home court vs. North Panola Friday, Dec. 9.

Ashland Devils will take on Potts Camp Cardinals Thursday, Dec. 8, and travel to Independence High School Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Lady Hawks fall to Ashland 25-31

Lady Ashland Blue Devils outscored the Lady Hawks in Friday night action in Holly Springs.

Ashland’s top scorer, Morgan Crutcher, tossed in 21 points. Victory McKinnie scored 5, Meagan Crutcher netted 4 and Paris Stewart added one point for the game.

The Lady Hawk Chamilya Watson scored 11 of the 31 points. Janya Bohanna scored seven. Shakinah Clark scored four and Aryiarra Ingram netted three points.
