Hawks crush ’Cats; Holly High girls fall

The Holly High boys tipped off the district portion of their basketball schedule with a 35-point win at Independence last week.
DaQuan Smith’s 26 points led the way as the Hawks crushed the Wildcats 75-40 in Division 2-3A action. He was seven of seven from the free-throw stripe.
Juwoyn Lyles was also in double digits for Holly Springs. He scored 13 points and pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.
