Hawks and Patriots kick-off summer with 7-on-7 scrimmage game

Holly Springs High School Hawks and the Marshall Academy Patriots are getting a head-start into the football season, which could be unique for both clubs.

Marshall Academy hosted a 7-on-7 scrimmage on Monday, June 3, which included some of the state’s best talent in the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools and Mississippi High School Activities Association.

Marshall Academy’s head coach, Ben Durham, said this scrimmage could pay off in the future.

“It’s great to get two teams working together. This is obviously going to pay off when August and September roll around,” said Durham.

Holly Springs High School head coach Clifford Brown said he plans on transitioning his offense to a different style built around his athletes.

“Quarterback competition is open and it’s never too early for the next starter to be prepared with the new offense,” Brown said.

There was no official score for the scrimmage game.
