Golf tourney big success

Beautiful skies and moderate temperatures made for a successful day of golf on behalf of the Holly Springs Main Street Chamber Friday June 3.

The 2nd annual Kudzu Classic Golf Tournament, held at Kirkwood National Golf Club, was very successful for the chamber, according to executive director Christy Owens. “We had perfect weather.”

“It was a good day,” she said. “We had perfect weather and we are pleased with the participation in this year’s tournament.”

Sponsorship was superb. “I’ve got a lot of people to thank.” Portions of the proceeds go to the Facade Grant and Revitalization program.

“Of course, we couldn’t have this tournament without our many partners and the hard work of our board of directors and committee chair Steven Gresham. Presenting sponsors were the Bank of Holly Springs and Unity Bank,” said Owens. “We added the ball drop this year which turned out to be so much fun and added an element of surprise to the tourney this year.”

The Main Street Chamber would like to thank the Marshall County sheriff’s Department for use of their helicopter and Fidelity National Loans for sponsoring the door prize.

“Major David Cook coordinated the pilot and flight path for the drop and I think everyone really enjoyed watching. This was a fun way to end a perfect afternoon. We are already looking forward to next year,” said Owens
