Faulkner surpasses 1,000
The highlight of Potts Camp’s home basketball openers Tuesday, Nov. 9, was a Lady Cardinal reaching 1,000 points in her career.
Malasha Faulkner, who poured in 42 in a 69-14 win over Coldwater, celebrated the milestone with fans, family and friends.
The junior scored 34 in the first half as the Lady Cards surged in front 54-11.
First-year head coach Zana Davis said she is looking forward to a good season, and she is proud of M. Faulkner for her huge accomplishment.
Ja’mrie Faulkner added 10 points for Potts Camp in the victory.
The Cardinals also blistered the nets against Coldwater, rolling to a 70-36 win.
Leading the way Martwion Walker with 14 points and Britten Traylor with 10. Eleven Cardinals scored.
Potts Camp was up 22-12 after the opening quarter and then outscored the Cougars 30-4 in the second to take total control of the contest.
Potts Camp-Pine Grove
Potts Camp teams dropped a pair of games on the road Friday at Pine Grove.
M. Faulkner scored half of the Lady Carinals’ points in 6250 loss to Lady Panthers.
She scored 10 of her 25 in the second quarter when Potts Camp pulled it to 31-27 at the break.
Also hitting in double digits for the Lady Cards was Raykiah Stricklen with 15.
The Potts Camp boys couldn’t get on track in a 57-36 loss to Pine Grove.
They fell behind 32-16 at the half and got outscored 2520 in the second half.
The leading scorer in the loss was Josh Blake with 11.
The Lady Cardinals (1-2) and Cardinals (1-2) were scheduled to host Falkner Tuesday. They go to Wheeler Friday. Next Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 22-23, they will play in the Tupelo Christian Preparatory School Thanksgiving Shootout.
