Expect a big-time treat from the NBA playoffs

Though we won’t see the basketball playoffs coming to Bluff City this season, we’re still in for a big-time treat from the upcoming 2024 NBA playoffs. Who would have thought the Oklahoma City Thunder, who missed the 2023 playoffs, would be the number 1 seed out west in the 2024 playoffs?

It’s incredible how much can change in a year. In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics look poised to add an 18th title, winning only three championships in the last 40 years. (Game 3, Celtics vs. Miami Heat, Saturday, April 27, 6 p.m.). The desperation is evident for the Celtics to bring championship gold back to Beantown.

For years, the Celtics archrival, the Los Angeles Lakers, dominated the Western Conference and somewhat still do. Still, after a late-season push and a play-in victory, the Lakers find themselves back where they ended last season against the defending champs, the Denver Nuggets. (Game 3, Nuggets vs. Lakers, Thursday, April 25, 10 p.m.)The Nuggets may have fallen off, losing some critical pieces from that 23championship team. Not to mention, eyes are always on the health of star guard Jamal Murray. Will we finally see the Phoenix Suns super-team rise to the occasion, or will there be another excuse for a Durant-led team? (Game 3, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Suns, Friday, April 26, 10:30 p.m.)

Regarding superteams, the Milwaukee Bucks will be without their star forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo, for a while after a calf injury. Can the Bucks return to the finals three years after winning their second NBA title? (Game 3, Bucks vs Indiana Pacers, Friday, April 26, 5:30 p.m.)

There are so many questions this postseason, with so many of them left unanswered, making it one of the most anticipated postseasons in recent history. So, sit back and relax as we watch the next two months of drama unfold.
