Holly Springs did not match up well in the trenches Friday night.
In its Region 2-3A opener, the Hawks lost 48-0 at Water Valley.
“They have a good football team with a big offensive line,” coach Donald Deans said. “We weren’t prepared for it. They had a good game plan and executed it well against us. They had a lot of big plays in the game.”
The Hawks had some chances to light up the scoreboard. On one possession, they drove to the Blue Devils’ 10-yard line. They were pushed back and faced a third and 16 and threw an interception.
