Chapman honored

Rust College freshman Darrien Chapman has been selected for the Black College World Series All-Tournament Team.

Chapman made numerous spectacular plays at second base with seven assists and four errors while helping turn two double plays.

At the plate, Chapman reached base three times (two hit-by-pitches and a double) for an on-base percentage of .429 while scoring one of the squad’s three runs plus swiping two stolen bases.

The Griffin, Ga., native finished the regular season fourth in the A.I.I. For doubles per game (0.38, 12 total), 12th in triples (two) and 15th in defensive assists a contest (1.66), to go along with a .301 batting average on 34 hits with 13 RBIs plus nine walks. On the basepaths, Chapman scored 24 times and stole 10 bases on 15 attempts over 32 appearances.
