Cards take two

Potts Camp teams opened last week with dominant victories over Falkner.

The Lady Cardinals stormed to a 26-6 halftime lead on their way to a 51-23 win over the Lady Eagles Tuesday night, Nov. 12, at home.

Malasha Faulkner scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the first half for Potts Camp. Also scoring in double digits in the win was Brenya Muse with

10.

The lead was 37-13 at the end of the third.

Mitchell Saulsberry poured in 22 points, 16 of those in the first half, as the Potts Camp boys crushed Falkner 90-53 in the nightcap.

Other top scorers for the Cardinals were Walter Hamilton with 13 and Martavious Frost and Kedavian Faulkner with 12 each. JaQuives Muse added nine.

The Cards turned it up a notch in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 21-12 and taking a 39-24 halftime advantage. They totally pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the visiting squad 27-10.

Potts Camp-Ashland

Potts Camp basketball teams split with Ashland on the road Saturday.

The Lady Cards dropped a 63-45 decision to the Lady Blue Devils.

Muse and Faulkner scored 17 and 12, respectively, for Potts Camp.

Hitting in double digits for Ashland were Cherica Cheairs with 16, Sylena Smith with 14 and Chantora Cheairs with 12.

The Lady Devils, in the win, put 32 points on the board in the first half and 31 in the second half.

The Potts Camp boys led by just six at the half but turned it up a notch in the third quarter and went on to win 80-59 over the Devils.

The lead was 37-31 at intermission, and then the Cardinals outscored the host squad 27-14 in the third. Leading Potts Camp in scoring were Saulsberry with 24, Hamilton with 19, Frost with 14 and Faulkner with 13. Twelve of Saulsberry’s 24 came in the huge third quarter. For Ashland, Kenneth Morgan poured in 23 points. The Lady Cards (2-2) and Cards (3-0) visited Byhalia Tuesday of this week They host Coldwater this Thursday and will participate in the Saltillo Shootout next Monday, Nov. 25. The Lady Cards will play in the Blue Mountain Classic on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
