Cards shut down Lions

One of the biggest headlines this offseason was coach Chris Daniels moving on to a new stomping ground as he was named the head coach of the Potts Camp Cardinals after years of success at H.W. Byers.

Playoff spots aren’t guaranteed, so both teams take up their intensity. The Cardinals defense shut down the Lions offense in the first half, taking a 13-0 lead into halftime.

The Lions offense woke up in the second half, trading scores with Potts Camp, cutting the deficit to just 6, but the head start by the Cardinals in the first half would lead them to their fourth victory this season, winning 34-19.

“Our defense played great they played like a pirarraha on a pot roast,” said Potts Camp coach Chris Daniels. “The second half of the game our offense came out and was hotter than the sun.”

Daniels said the team came out and played better in the second half, and the game had more turns than a country road.

The Cardinals face West Memphis Christian and Byers will try to add to their playoff hopes on the road at Falkner High School.

The games begin at 7 p.m.
