Cards makes history-wins first round 42-0

After having their best season in school history, the Potts Camp Cardinals cruise into the postseason on a fourgame winning streak. The Cardinals also secured homefield advantage after clinching the district championship for the 2023 season.

The Cardinals welcomed the Thrasher Rebels and wasted no time dominating the game. The Cardinals shut out the Rebels 42-0, winning their first playoff game in school history.

Coach Christopher Daniels, who continues to have great success this season, said his defense played great Friday night.

“We were hot as fish grease all night. Our kids played great. We hosted the first playoff game in school history and won the first playoff game in school history. That is big for us,” Daniels said. “Our players are just playing very well right now. Our only job as coaches right now is to make sure that they get to the game on time.

We look forward to trying to win the second playoff game in school history.

“West Lowndes has a team full of athletes. Some of their kids are so fast that it looks like they are running on water. We will need to play our best game of the year, and we will need a packed house Friday night to help us get the victory.”

The Cardinals advance to the 1A second-round playoffs, entering the game with an 8-3 record. They will travel to West Lowndes to play against the Myrtle Panthers Friday, Nov. 10. The Panthers record now stands at 4-6.
