Potts Camp High School Cardinals win against Coffeeville High School with the final score 34-12.

Cardinals win district, 34-12

Potts Camp High School Cardinals moved to the playoffs winning Friday night’s game against Coffeeville, 34- 12.

The 7-3 record is Potts Camp’s best record in school history, and it took head coach Chris Daniels only one season to make it happen.

“Coaching is a profession of love. Leadership like coaching is fighting for the hearts and souls of the young men and women and getting them to believe in you,” Cardinal coach Chris Daniels said. “There is something powerful when you impact others. We have the privilege to speak into a young person and pull out their destiny and reach into their soul and pull out who they can become and that is better than any championship trophy. The greatest trophy you can ever have is to pull out of someone what they are meant to be.

“The players we coach are walking treasures and should be treated as such. There are some that need us more than others need us and they are the ones that have the deepest treasures buried deep inside them.”

The Cardinals rank 25th in the Mississippi 1A Division and Thrasher is ranked 32nd.

The Cardinals also clinched home-field advantage for the first round as they welcome the Thrasher Rebels to town. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3.
