Cardinals place third in division

Potts Camp volleyball team went to the playoffs, for the first time in school history, to face East Webster Saturday and lost 3-2. The sets were: set 1, 25-22; set 2, 11-25; set 3, 13-25; set 4, 25- 21; and set 5, 11-15. The Cardinals placed third in their division.

Cardinal coach Julianna Garner said she is very proud of the team.

“I am proud of the work these girls put in and the accomplishments that were achieved but I am not satisfied. Tuesday will begin off-season work, and I am looking to find a team who will critique their mistakes to continue improving because that is what it will take to achieve greatness,” she said.

Garner said the team will have five of their six starters back next year.

“We have several individuals who are developing their skills, and I think next year’s team will have a little more depth than we had this year,” said Garner. “Our team is young, so there’s so much potential for the future.”

Stats for the game are: Carson Bennett, 11 kills, an assist, and nine digs; Charlie Holmes, a kill, 11 assists, an ace, five digs; Malasha Faulkner, nine kills, an assist, an ace, seven digs; Ava Wilson, five kills and three digs; Alyssa Clifton, a kill, 12 assists, an ace, and four digs; Zoe Clark, two kills, an assist, an ace, and seven digs.
