Cardinals go to 6-0

The Potts Camp Cardinals finished the pre-Thanksgiving portion of their schedule undefeated.

Coach Jeremy Dillard’s high-flying Cardinals improved to 6-0 on the young season with a 63-40 rout of Itawamba AHS in the Saltillo Shootout on Monday, Nov. 25.

The Cards stormed ahead 33-18 at intermission and kept on clicking in the second half.

It was a balanced scoring attack in the win, led by Mitchell Saulsberry with 17, Walter Hamilton with 15 and Kedavian Faulkner with 10. Six others had points.

The Lady Cards, also coached by Dillard, went to Blue Mountain Tuesday, Nov. 26, and lost 63-58 in overtime.

The Potts Camp girls were in a 29-20 rut at halftime. They outscored the Lady Cougars 34-25 in the second half to tie the game at 54 and sent it to the extra period.

Blue Mountain outscored Potts Camp 9-4 in overtime.

Leading point producers for the Lady Cardinals were Malasha Faulkner with a game-high 29 and Brenya Muse with 18.

The Lady Cardinals (4-3) and the unbeaten Cardinals hosted rival H.W. Byers on Tuesday of this week. They will play in the Doc Vandiver Classic at Baldwyn Saturday. Next Tuesday, Dec. 10, they travel to Independence.
